I wrote this when I was living in Austin, Texas, a few thousand miles from my at-the-time 9 year old daughter. I missed her terribly. This song is meant to express all the moods that overcame me when I thought of her. The middle solo section is sprightly and uptempo which acted in contrast to the melancholy sections of the song. I also wanted to express my joy at being her father.
